Slick, This poject started along time ago when I figured
out that all the Dohc models could use the same motor mounts. I thought
I could buy an old cb1100f and just slide the engine into
"The Lady" and increase my horse power by 25 or better. In
2002 I found a great deal on a neglected cb1100f with low miles and
bought it. But soon thereafter I realized that the 1100 engine was too
powerful for the way "The Lady" was built. A 12" over
frontend with single disc brake up front and a drum brake on the rear
wasn't going to to be enough to haul the 1100 down. This bike was a
Monster! So I thought I'd enjoy it for awhile while I built a electricstart
shovelhead chop I've been collecting parts for. That summer though a
girl rolled a stop sign on me, and the cb1100f was toast. We (1100 and
I) did $4500 to her car and I walked away. The frame was twisted and
I had a new chop project. I knew this chop would have to retain all
the stock brakes and suspension to be half way controllable. I decided
an old Santee "Rigidarm" would be good canidate and started
collecting parts. A good friend and fellow chop builder offered 2 bays
of his garage to put a shop together in and "Low Budget Choppers"
was born. A frame out of British Columbia and "Oh no, there goes
Buffalo, I said Godzilla!" Watch out, 125hp and 450lbs, maybe!
Slick's Note: If ever a bike was a great candidate for
a true S.O.B. bike this is one of them. Not a motorcycle that you often
see chopped. This bike has enough Horse Power to rip your arms off.....
It's all about choppin what you got not just what everyone else chops.
I sure haven't seen many choppers like this prowling the streets!!!!
