This bike will always be one of my favorites. It is not the best bike ever built but it did start a new chapter in my bike building. I got married and for 5 years did not own a bike. then one day I found a 750 that was rin down and falling apart. I bought the bike for 400 dollars and trailered it home. I immediatley started cutting the bike apart to make it a chopper.
This is a picture of the bike in the shape I bought it. I had owned 750 honda's before And new that there was potential. I also remembered seeing kick ass choppers with this engine so I set out on the mission of making it into a chopper.
I initially cleaned up the bike painted the tank house of krylon yellow. My next step was to change the rear fender and seat . the bike remained this way for the rest of the summer. I didn't have any other bikes running and just couldn't stop driving it. I had plans for fall though.
I purchased a set of 8 over forks from a guy off the greenspun board. The old ones were not only short but REALLY RUSTY!!!!!
I purchased and installed a 16 inch rear wheel laced to a honda hub and mounted it. I then put a set of lowering blocks on the bike. The lowering blocks dropped the bike about 2 inches in the rear.
the next step was the most nerve racking. I used a pipe cutter and cut the down tubes. while pushing down on the frame the front tire moved forward and the backbone up. I ended up with approximatly 3 inches of gap in the down tubes.
Tubing of the same length as the gap was welded back in with slugs.
I removed all of the tabs off the frame with an angle grinder. I then bondo'ed the frame and painted it argent matalic.
this is how the frame looked with new forks and extended down tubes. then it was just a matter of reinstalling the engine and putting the sheet metal back on.
